Africa is not so much a continent as a cradle. It was here that mankind was born and learned to walk and talk. Moreover, the talk goes on - most evocatively just after dark on sunset terraces where television has been replaced once more by the soothing background sound of frogs, owls and the occasional distant hyena.

It is  a place so remarkable it stands out even on a continent unparalleled for the richness of its wildlife, landscape and culture, East Africa straddles the equator in the central portion of the African Continent and is made up of three countries:- Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

The landscape is extraordinary: grassy plains, rock strewn deserts, extinct volcanoes, fresh and saltwater lakes, forested mountains, palm fringed beaches and coral reefs. This diverse habitat is home to the world's remaining population of Big cats, big mammals, plains game and hundreds of species of birds that still roam free in their natural habitat.

Throughout East Africa, there are numerous ethnic groups with unique cultural traditions, the most famous being the Masai tribe. Now concentrated in Southern Kenya and Northern Tanzania, they cling tenaciously to their culture and customs, and live harmoniously with wildlife. A centuries-old Arab presence along the east africa's coast and off shore provides these areas with a distinctive flavour. The rhythms of nature and native traditions sound loudly in East Africa and Zanzibar.
Wherever visitors go in these lands, they will encounter peoples, vistas and wildlife new to their experience.
